It is always scary when a top apprentice loses his claim but Rob Hornby has seen the future and it works.

He was unable to draw his 3lb allowance on Rosie Briar in the Listed two-year-old race, so that he was taking on the likes of Ryan Moore and Jim Crowley on level terms.

But Hornby, who had won on the filly with the benefit of his claim at Haydock last month, will be doing that soon enough anyway and he showed here that he will still be competitive.
