Rod Millman strikes with first two-year-old runner of the year who cost just £6,000

Rod Millman struck with his first two-year-old runner of the year when Anthelia defied 18-1 odds in the 5f fillies’ restricted novice.
Anthelia was a £6,000 buy at the Goffs UK Premier yearling sale at Doncaster in August and became a first winner for her sire Supremacy.
Lewis Edmunds’ mount stayed on strongly in the final furlong to score by two and a half lengths from Canyouhearthedrums, whose trainer Eve Johnson Houghton landed the previous two runnings with subsequent Listed and Group 3 winners.
Millman, who enjoyed a career-best 45 winners last year, said: “She'd been showing us she was a nice filly from early on and we’ve been waiting to get a run into her.
“She’s in a couple of sales races, and while it’s very early in the season, she can’t do any more than she did in a race that had a few fancied types. We could look at the conditions race at Salisbury [May 4] or the Marygate at York [May 16] next.”
Perfect start
Tourist was a 60,000gns buy for Robert Cowell at the Tattersalls September sale and made a successful start for the Newmarket trainer in the 5f handicap.
Sean Levey’s mount, who races in the silks of Malih Al Basti, justified favouritism by a length.
Double up
David Probert was twice in the winner's enclosure with the Neil Mulholland-trained Man Of The Sea in the 1m6f handicap and the Patrick Chamings-trained Darvel in the mile handicap.
