Rockley on point as Scott saddles first winner on the Flat

Hamilton’s last meeting of the year provided a watershed moment for Borders trainer Katie Scott, who sent out her first winner on the Flat when Rockley Point ended a losing spell stretching back to October 2016 in division two of the 6f handicap.

While Scott has a team of 12 to run over jumps, Rockley Point has been the stable’s sole runner on the Flat this summer and toughed it out from the front for a belated win under Phil Dennis.

“We were hoping he’d run well but the really soft ground was an unknown,” said Scott, who had to look away in the last half-furlong as the occasion got the better of her.
