River makes it Wylde weekend for emerging owners
On a testing day for Nicky Henderson River Wylde provided the solitary bright spot by claiming the Sky Bet Dovecote Novices' Hurdle for an emerging owning partnership of Mike Grech and Stuart Parkin.
The loss of Barry Geraghty to injury after Charli Parcs fell, one of two Henderson horses beaten at odds-on, and a pelvis fracture suffered by Triolo D'Alene as he and Cocktails At Dawn came down in the BetBright Handicap Chase was not the return expected for Kempton's leading trainer.
Yet the misfortune provided an opportunity River Wylde to showcase his talent as he continued an unbeaten start to jumping by skipping to a three and a half lengths win over Elgin in the Grade 2 race.
