Richard Patrick might not be a name you are particularly familiar with, unless you are from Wales that is, as the 24-year-old has been making headlines in his home country for quite some time.

Patrick was a promising pony rider before being Welsh novice point-to-point champion and has now transferred that ability to the biggest stage of all.

The way in which he cajoled Happy Diva into contention and kept her going up the punishing uphill climb to the line suggests we are going to be hearing a lot more about him.
