Reworked fences given thumbs-up following Betfair Chase day controversy

The remedial work carried out on Haydock's fences following concerns raised at last month's Betfair Chase meeting was well received by jockeys as racing returned to the course on Wednesday.

Nico de Boinville was among those to question the height and stiffness of the fences at the track's flagship jumps fixture, when in the three chases outside the feature race six horses fell and one unseated out of 20 runners.

De Boinville had a day to forget on that occasion as Might Bite finished last in the Betfair Chase after being left in "panic mode" by the fences, in the view of trainer Nicky Henderson.
