Although connections were delighted that recent purchase Jaywalker won the first 6f handicap on his second start for them, it means that they will now be making many more trips up the A1 from Wetherby this winter.

He is trained by Rebecca Bastiman whose father Robin said: "We didn't know that he would act on the surface but there wasn't much left for him so we decided to give it a go. I expect we will have to keep coming back here now. Although his wins have been at 5f he got this trip well."

The son of Footstepsinthesand was purchased for £7,000 at Doncaster last month, and is looking a good buy as this race was worth more than £5,000 for owner Marie Austerfield.
