'Remarkable' one-eyed wonder who wouldn't eat and would 'boot hurdles out the ground' wins for a sixth time

The one-eyed Giovanni Change recorded his sixth success at Market Rasen as the stable favourite for Mark Walford landed the 3m handicap chase under Danny McMenamin.
He was bought in 2019 having won a bumper at Killarney for Emmet Mullins but it took almost two years to register a first success in Britain, as he proved difficult to train.
Yet he has always saved his best for Market Rasen. He registered his first success at the track in April 2021 and produced an excellent round of jumping to continue strike for the sixth time at the Lincolnshire venue with a five-length triumph.
"He used to boot hurdles out the ground but that was his best round of jumping, he was superb and he's given his owners such a wonderful time," Walford said.
"He was on my list at the sales a few years ago but I was worried he'd be too expensive. I was told he's blind in one eye, asymmetrical behind and is a terrible box-walker, so I thought at least I might be able to afford him.
"We took his eye out and we couldn't train him and he wouldn't eat, but we've got outdoor stables now and he's perfect in there. That's his sixth win at this track and he's been remarkable."
Lengthy suspension
Finn Lambert was issued a ten-day ban for careless riding after riding Bluenose Belle to win the conditionals' novice handicap hurdle. Lambert was punished for shifting left-handed and causing interference behind, including to runner-up Rukaana.
