Reformed character Leroy Leroy on the mark again over hurdles

Leroy Leroy, who struck just once from 19 starts on the Flat, took his record over hurdles to two wins from four runs when carrying a penalty to victory in the 2m novice hurdle.

Current trainer Jim Boyle bought Leroy Leroy out of Richard Hannon's yard and admitted the four-year-old had tested his patience since his transfer, but a switch to hurdles has seen his zest for racing return.

"Since he went hurdling he's turned a corner," said Boyle. "We were very frustrated with him on the Flat, so we schooled him up at home just to give him something to think about.
