Monday: Chepstow

Course specialist Wayfinder is to be aimed at next season's Welsh Grand National after recording an easy win in the 2m7½f handicap chase.

The Rebecca Curtis-trained eight-year-old just had just two rivals to beat but made no mistake in justifying odds-on favouritism, being eased down by Ben Jones to record a 39-length victory.

Curtis said: “He was good and he just seems to love this track. I think he stays very well, he’s a good jumper and he just likes the undulations.”

This was his fourth visit to Chepstow and he has now won three and finished second on the other occasion to improver Dr Kananga in February. A tilt at the Welsh National looks to be on the cards if his rating continues to rise.

"I’d love to get him up to a rating to run in the Welsh National if we could, that would be the plan," Curtis added.

Champion form

Paul Nicholls is poised to be crowned champion trainer for a 13th time this weekend and added to his tally with a double, both ridden by Harry Cobden.

Silent Revolution appreciated the drop in class to land the opening 2m novice hurdle before Tango Tara struck for the first time under rules in the second division of the 2m3½f handicap hurdle.
