Colin Kidd has always felt that Rashaan was at his best when the ground is good and the five-year-old got his summer campaign off to a flyer on Thursday evening by winning the Tipperary Perpetual Cup at Clonmel, and picked up a cheque for over €10,000 for his efforts.

Rashaan, who disappointed at Aintree and in the Champion Hurdle at Punchestown just six days earlier, looked to be booked for minor money inside the final furlong but ground out a hard fought victory under Niall McCullagh.

Kidd said: “He is a stable star and he just loves that ground. He needs the ground to be good to be at his best and hopefully he will have a good summer now.
