Thursday: Windsor

Nursery winner Safari Dream not only gave Jamie Osborne's Wales and The West team a boost in their pursuit of Racing League honours, but also provided compensation for connections following his controversial demotion at Sandown 11 days earlier.

The Rod Millman-trained juvenile finished a neck in front of New Hope Bullet last time, only for the placings to be reversed by the stewards on interference grounds.

With Neil Callan taking over in the saddle, Safari Dream showed a good turn of foot to finish first past the post for his third start in a row for owners Great Western Racing II.

"He got disqualified wrongly on Sunday [August 21] but it meant we had no penalty today so it was a free run," Millman's son and assistant James told ITV Racing.

"Actually the stewards did us a favour as we've had a win and a second and are appealing the decision from before, so it might work out all right for us."

Speciale day for Varian

Roger Varian recorded an across-the-card treble on the day after Lir Speciale justified 11-4 favouritism for The East under Ray Dawson in the 6f handicap.

Following impressive victories from Sakheer at Haydock and Eximious at Salisbury, the three-year-old colt made it a productive day for the trainer as he showed the benefit of a wind op on his first start for 110 days.

"He won well at Doncaster and then I rode him at Newmarket and his wind wasn't right," said Dawson. "He's had a bit of time off and to get him back here in a competitive race and fit enough to win is all credit to Roger."

The East, managed by Rupert Bell, won the following race when Croupier gave Simon and Ed Crisford their own across-the-card treble when getting up in a three-way finish under Luke Morris.

Harrington joins the party

Jessica Harrington sent out a winner with her first runner at Windsor when That's Just Dandy struck for Ireland under Dylan Browne McMonagle in the second mile handicap.

Strong finish

London and The South finished the night with a flourish with a one-two in the 1m2f handicap as Sanitiser led home Danville under the Racing League's leading jockey Sean Levey.

Double top

Richard Fahey was the pride of The North after saddling a double courtesy of Vintage Clarets and Wootton'Sun.
