Saturday's Fred Darling Stakes had proved fairly inconclusive but the Nell Gwyn provided a much stronger 1,000 Guineas pointer as Qabala was an impressive winner. She quickened up well in the closing stages to beat a couple of solid yardsticks in Mot Juste and Angel's Hideaway, who replicated their form from the Oh So Sharp last season.

Qabala has plenty of size, should stay a mile and looks sure to come on for the run, which was only the second of her career – it's hard to quibble with quotes around the 5-1 mark for the 1,000 Guineas. Her main rivals are likely to come from Ireland.
