Promising Prime gives example of how match races aren't always bad

Much was made of the match races served up at Kempton on Monday, but less will be said about the de facto match in the opening novice chase and how much of a spectacle – and an informative one, in all likelihood – the odd head-to-head can be.

There were technically three other runners besides Optimus Prime and Tommy Silver, but they were never closer than when the tape went up.

The main pair put on a real show, with Swinton runner-up Optimus Prime getting the better of Sussex Champion Hurdle winner Tommy Silver by a neck.
