Prolific Contingency Fee delivers again for Grace McEntee and father Phil
Grace McEntee picked up her first winner for her father’s yard with Contingency Fee in 2019, and two years later the pair continue to deliver.
The six-year-old made the running and stayed on strongly to the line, thanks in part to the loose Milldean Felix, who stumbled out the gate and unseated Liam Keniry.
Phil McEntee said: "It was absolutely brilliant. We bought him out of a seller here years ago for £4,000 and he’s been a legend of a horse.
"Grace hasn't had a winner in a few weeks, so horses like him are just gold dust to have in the yard. Grace rides him out at home and that’s his seventh win with her.
"I don’t get nervous watching her race anymore, but obviously that loose horse made it slightly more exciting!"
More commonly seen on the all-weather, Contingency Fee is being targeted at a trip to Jersey in search of quick ground.
Boughey unstoppable at Brighton
Bolton Abbey continued George Boughey’s remarkable run of juvenile form to give the trainer a 100 per cent strike rate at the course with his two-year-olds.
The colt was third-last at the final furlong pole, but Mark Crehan picked up the pace to storm past the field with an impressive turn of foot down centre of the course.
Hefty ban for Dobie
Georgia Dobie was handed an 11-day suspension after the 1m4f handicap.
The jockey was given the ban after stewards ruled she used her whip above the permitted level without giving her horse, Lady Elysia, time to respond. They finished second, beaten a nose.
