Prescott may not want to go to Paris - but he definitely wants to win the Arc

At 2.45pm a man stood by the paddock rail at the weighing-room end of York racecourse, viewing the runners for the mile handicap preceding the card's Group 1 feature. Sir Mark Prescott would soon have cause to celebrate. The previous afternoon had also brought reason for cheer.

He was here to see Alpinista in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks. There had been no Knavesmire challengers for Prescott on Wednesday, yet not only did one former Heath House assistant train the world's best racehorse to land the Juddmonte International, another saddled the first and third in the Great Voltigeur.

"Heath House had a very good day in reflected glory and I was very pleased to be here," said Prescott. "A day like that gives me enormous pride. I love watching them win.
