Portrush takes first step to emulating star relative Enable with maiden win

Only time will tell if Portrush ends up being talked about in the same breath as her far more illustrious relative Enable, but the filly has started her career well, securing a first success at the second attempt.

Having finished second on her debut at Newbury last month, Portrush was well fancied to shed her maiden tag, and did so with a snug neck success over 1m2f.

Jockey Rab Havlin only used hands and heels to urge the daughter of Frankel to the front, and she shaped like there will be more to come in time, with longer trips likely to suit.
