Plans for Nicola Barron's family tea changed from stew at home to a meal out after her Wick Powell won Redcar's biggest race of the season, the £175,000 totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy – albeit the destination was not your typical fancy restaurant.

"I was going to give the children stew but I'll probably take them to McDonalds now," she said after the son of Sakhee's Secret gave her father, trainer David, his second win in the race following Dim Sums in 2000.
