Owner Andrew Gemmell had the thrill of his life as Paisley Park got up to score a last-gasp victory in the £100,000 Grade 3 Betfair Exchange Stayers' Handicap Hurdle.

Gemmell, who has been blind since birth, has been involved in syndicates in the past, including with Ascot Gold Cup winner Trip To Paris, but enjoyed the biggest win in his own colours as the Emma Lavelle-trained six-year-old overhauled gutsy runner-up Shades Of Midnight.

"This is my first proper winner on my own and I just can't believe it," said Gemmell, 66. "I got into racing as a kid, listening to it on television and have loved it ever since. It's interesting listening to a race you're involved in to say the least, and I was shocked he came and got there at the end."
