You never forget your first and David Wilson, who works as a translator in France, will cherish the memory of Fanion D'Estruval's victory in the 2m novice handicap chase for the rest of his life.

Venetia Williams' inmate earned quotes as short as 14-1 for the Racing Post Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival, but March was the last thing on Wilson's mind as he savoured the impressive success.

"I've lived in France for 25 years, but my mother and father and I used to live on a farm in Dorset and we were always mad on racing," he explained.
