Owner Lumley lays down the foundations for Rodnee Tee success

Plenty of owners have a special relationship with their horses, but few can say they have the link David Lumley has with Rodnee Tee, who made a winning start to his career in division two of the novice auction stakes.

Ridden by Conor McGovern, the 14-1 winner made all and just held on to deny the 5-4 favourite Gin Gembre, who is trained by the Racing Post Weekender's new columnist Karl Burke.

The result was a surprise for Lumley, a builder who erected the barn Rodnee Tee is housed in at David O'Meara's North Yorkshire yard.
