'One of those great days in Irish racing' - Honeysuckle still hooked on winning

In his Pricewise column in Sunday's Racing Post, Tom Segal said "if ever she is going to be beaten, I think it will be today". Henry de Bromhead agreed with him. "I had myself convinced all week that she would get beaten this time."

You could see where they were coming from. Winning sequences that stretch into double digits are very rare these days and it takes an extraordinary individual to win 13 races in a row. Frankel was indeed extraordinary and won all 14 of his, but Bula is the only jumps horse I can think of who won his first 13.

The ground was lively and she wasn't particularly impressive in last year's Hatton's Grace, so this might well have been the day when a two or a three was added to the string of ones next to her name.
