Entering Galway festival week the Matt Smith-trained One Cool Poet had one win from 29 starts. Before the seven-day bonanza came to a close he became only the second horse to win three races at one Galway festival.

What contrasting victories they were too. Billy Lee nursed him home in a 1m½f handicap on Tuesday night when it appeared he almost got there too soon, but stepping back up to 1m4f suited him well on Thursday when he recorded a straightforward success. This was even more comprehensive.

So easily was he travelling out of the dip that even with close to ten horses in front of him turning in, he could have been called the winner.
