Oisin Murphy gracious in defeat despite picking the wrong horse in July Cup

Oisin Murphy was magnanimous in defeat despite picking the wrong horse in the Darley July Cup, having partnered runner-up Dragon Symbol rather than the winner Starman.
The two-time champion jockey rode Starman for the first time when successful on his previous outing in the Duke of York Stakes at the Dante meeting in May and was offered the ride again, but turned it down to partner the Archie Watson-trained Dragon Symbol.
His replacement Tom Marquand, who was required to ride for William Haggas in the York race, made the most of the opportunity when scoring by a length and a quarter from Murphy's mount.
