Quick ground robbed the feature Grade 3 Irish Daily Star Chase of the participation of Noel Meade’s big guns Road To Respect and Snow Falcon, but Henry de Bromhead wasn’t complaining after Sub Lieutenant took advantage of the opportunity to win his first race at the 3m1f trip.

It seems as though Sub Lieutenant has been around for ages, but he is still only nine and has been afforded a new lease of life since ending a long losing run at the Galway festival, recording back-to-back victories for the first time in two years.
