Hands-on local trainer Steve Flook was awaiting his glass of orange juice after the victory of Centreofexcellence in the 2m novice handicap chase, which allowed him to speak candidly about his small operation and the way of life he loves.

Flook had to drive the horsebox home, so was willing to forego his post-race swig of champagne, but he was relishing a trip to his local pub later.

A suggestion it would be his round first, he joked: "Steady on!"
