As starts to a riding career go, Connor Murtagh could not have dreamed for any better as he steered Symbolic Star, trained by his father Barry, to victory on his first ride in the 7f handicap.

Murtagh, 16, is based with Richard Fahey and has his first mount for the Musley Bank trainer aboard Dose at Newcastle on Friday.
