Mullins celebrates with late headline act Cabaret Queen at Limerick
Willie Mullins completed a weekend big-race treble highly unlikely to be matched when adding the JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National at Limerick to his two Cesarewitch wins thanks to a mare who was originally a reserve for the race.
Cabaret Queen, who made her debut for Mullins when second at Listowel last month after being bought out of Dan Skelton’s stable, only got her place in the 3m feature after the withdrawal of the lame Na Trachtalai Abu and made the most of bottom weight to make all the running under Paul Townend.
It was not lost on bookmakers that Mullins won this feature with Total Recall two years ago before going on to win the Ladbrokes Trophy as they introduced this seven-year-old mare at 14-1 for that next month's feature chase at Newbury.
