Roger Varian and Jack Mitchell combined for a near 16-1 double when Postponed's pacemaker King Bolete took the 1m3f handicap and one-time Lincoln favourite Morando made a winning reappearance in the mile Listed race.

It was a good day for Varian, who had won with Defoe at York earlier, and an even better one for Mitchell, who does not get many such opportunities and grabbed these with both hands before dashing on to Lingfield.

After Morando had beaten frustrating favourite Stormy Antarctic a short head, Mitchell said: "It's been a great day. It's nice when there are a lot of meetings on and I get the opportunity."
