The father-daughter duo of Paul and Megan Nicholls teamed up to win the Listed bumper at Ascot on Friday and repeated the trick with Rainyday Woman, over whom the winning jockey could barely contain her excitement.

The 2m mares' contest was salvaged from Huntingdon's abandoned Peterborough Chase card this month and has thrown up some useful winners, most notably La Bague Au Roi in 2015.

The five-year-old backed up her nine-length triumph at Stratford last month by comfortably holding off the challenge of the Kim Bailey-trained Flirtatious Girl.

"It's brilliant for connections to give me these chances and fantastic to ride for Dad," said Nicholls. "She's a huge mare and has taken a couple years to fill into that frame. She tanked along and quickened up really nicely. I think she could be really smart.

"We've always thought she's an out-and-out stayer but she isn't short of speed. Long term, she's going to make a lovely jumper and wherever she goes next I'll be excited to see her."

Doubles for Nicholls and Cobden

The season's leading trainer, Nicholls landed a bumper double on the bill as he and stable jockey Harry Cobden warmed up for King George day in fine style.

Short-priced favourite Silent Revolution got up to edge Lebowski in a photo-finish in the final race to be held in Britain before Christmas and moved the trainer onto 93 winners for the campaign.

Cobden, who will ride Cyrname in the Ladbrokes King George VI Chase on Saturday, had struck in the colours of his big-race rival Lostintranslation when winning the 2m4f handicap chase aboard the Colin Tizzard-trained Premiumaccess.

"He jumped really well today and I think we'll see a different horse when the ground gets better in the spring," Cobden said of Premiumaccess.

"I'm sure he's better than a Tuesday round Huntingdon and he could definitely pick up a small race on a Saturday."
