McNamara enjoys 29-1 double as students are out in full force

Sold out. Two words you don't usually hear about a race meeting on a Thursday afternoon. Not just sold out, but sold out since November. It was only a matter of minutes before all 7,500 tickets available to the students of Limerick were snapped up.

Many of them won't remember the occasion for but one man who will never forget the day is local trainer Eric McNamara, who helped himself to a 29-1 double thanks to the victories of Torquay and Internal Transfer.

The most valuable contest on the card was the 2m3½f handicap chase, worth just over €11,000 to the winner, and Internal Transfer made it three from three at the track by a combined winning distance of 36 lengths.
