McCain and Kennedy back on the road with Birch Vale

Prior to this meeting, Will Kennedy had not ridden for Donald McCain since the trainer had appointed Brian Hughes as his new first-choice jockey earlier in the week.

In his announcement, McCain had said: "Obviously, Will Kennedy has been a big part of our success over the last few seasons he has ridden a lot of winners for the yard and hopefully will continue to do so."

In giving him the likes of Birch Vale to ride, hot favourite and ready winner of the opening mares' novice hurdle, McCain is staying true to his word.
