Martin magic works yet again as Golden Spear lands feature

Tony Martin's magic wand was in perfect working order at Leopardstown on Saturday as he pulled another rabbit out of the hat with Golden Spear.

Ahead of all the Melbourne Cup razzmatazz with Heartbreak City, he broke Irish trainers' hearts once again by bagging another big prize on home soil.

It was the second time this season that Golden Spear has plundered a €100,000 pot. He was successful in the Guinness Handicap at Galway in late July, and off a 5lb higher mark here, he swooped late under Conor Hoban to bag the Tote November Handicap, beating British raider Nakeeta by half a length, with Magic Circle, another visitor from Britain, back in third.
