Curragh trainer Ken Condon had already put recent Navan maiden winner Romanised forward as a probable for the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, but he might have to pay an extra day's rent for his top hat after the impressive debut success of the well-punted Mambo Noire in the juvenile auction maiden.

This imposing daughter of Wootton Bassett lived up to her hype as she quickened away, and despite showing plenty of greenness she decisively accounted for the more experienced Summerseat Mist by two lengths.

Condon was aware of the pre-race talk, but he was still a bit concerned beforehand.
