Mirza has been in training for seven seasons, winning in six of those campaigns, and any fears he would go without success this term were extinguished when he landed the 5f handicap, which boasted prize-money of £25,000.

The Chris and Lesley Mills homebred hinted at a return to form when finishing third in a Listed heat at Ascot earlier this month and got his head in front today under Martin Harley after Lightscameraction hung dramatically left in the closing stages.
