Madam Lilibet indeed. The Sharon Watt-trained mare was steadfastly reluctant to leave the paddock but all was forgiven as she showed a willing attitude when it mattered most to gain a head success in the 2m2f handicap.

There were red faces all round as connections tried everything they could to encourage the eight-year-old out on to the course.

She ignored the desperate gesticulations for nearly five minutes before finally conforming – and was then the first horse back under Phil Dennis.
