Lovely Touch lives up to name and his part in five-minute gamble

Forget 15 minutes of fame two races just five minutes apart nearly put the Third Match Officials syndicate and Gold Cup-winning jockey Sam Thomas into folklore after a gamble just failed to hit the jackpot.

While their Powderonthebonnet, backed from 16-1 overnight to 7-2, had to settle for third in the staying handicap at 4.50 on the Flat at Chepstow celebrations could break out 150 miles east after Lovely Touch, 11-4 from 8-1 through the day, won the 4.55 handicap hurdle.

"I am very happy with the way they have run," said Thomas from Fontwell. "Powderonthebonnet was a bit keen early and just needed it a little bit after so long off.
