'Lovely prospect' Monmiral 16-1 for Triumph after comfortable win

Monmiral was cut to as short as 16-1 (from 33) for the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival after a stylish first win for the Paul Nicholls team in the 2m1f juvenile hurdle at Exeter.

His sole previous victory came at Auteuil in March and the form has been boosted by the runner-up Hell Red, who won a juvenile hurdle by 12 lengths on his first start for Nicholls at Chepstow in October.

Monmiral further enhanced his big reputation to justify odds of 11-8, putting in a slick round of jumping and staying on well to finish five and a half lengths clear of debutant Honneur D'Ajonc.
