A new owner to racing was rewarded when her bargain buy Red Armour justified favouritism to win her maiden for Newmarket-based Rebecca Dennis.

Winning trainer John Ryan said: “It’s a lovely story as Rebecca picked her up for very little money being by Nayef, an unfashionable sire to a point.”

Pocket money would be a better description of the 1,200gns that it cost Dennis to buy Red Armour at the Tattersalls yearling sales.
