Lot to like about Lee as he shines in Intense moment

It was quite a day for Clifford Lee, who rode the biggest winner of his career in a £60,000 handicap and was then likened to an 11-time champion jockey.

The 20-year-old certainly gave Intense Tango quite a ride in the Old Borough Cup, run this year as the 32Red Casino Handicap. Soon in front from a wide draw, he dictated throughout and the 7lb claimer judged things to perfection, holding on by a head at the line.

Lee has been with winning trainer Karl Burke - for whom it was quite a day as well, of course - since December, and his boss said: "Clifford reminds me of a young Pat Eddery. He has beautiful hands and he's very relaxed on a horse and gets them into a great rhythm. He's got a long way to go to emulate a jockey like him but he's a lad with a good future.
