Jacovec Cavern may be on many a jumps trainer’s list for next week’s Tattersalls Autumn sale and secured a notable update to his page when landing the feature 1m5½f handicap.

The Dave and Gill Hedley-owned three-year-old relished the soft ground to score by a length and a quarter, providing Hollie Doyle with a 150th domestic winner of the year.

Jack Channon, assistant to his father Mick, said: “We’ve been waiting all year for this ground for him and he’s very well handicapped in these conditions.

“He’s in the sales next week and should appeal to the jumps trainers, his brother Greystoke has won over hurdles and Jacovec Cavern is a more athletic type and stays well.”

The other Class 3 handicaps went to the Ralph Beckett-trained Biggles, who gained a fifth win in his last six starts in the 7f contest, and the Heather Main-trained Marshal Dan in the 6f race.

Top form

Charlie Hills is chasing last year’s best annual tally of 77 winners in Britain and took his strike-rate to 33 per cent in the past fortnight when Cicero’s Gift won division one of the mile novice on debut.

The Rosehill Racing-owned two-year-old, a son of the stable’s top sprinter Muhaarar, was Hills’s 66th domestic winner of the year and prevailed by two and three-quarter lengths under Cieren Fallon.

James Doyle took the second division aboard It’s All About You for Harry and Roger Charlton and sealed a quickfire double when the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained Misty Dancer landed a hat-trick in the 1m2f fillies’ handicap.
