'Long may it continue' - Ruth Carr doubles up as trainer closes on personal best

There was an eventful start to the card when Star Start prevailed in a photo-finish from the favourite Unplugged, who traded as low as 1.2 in running.
Jockey Charli Parker has now ridden two winners this season, both on the five-year-old trained by Ruth Carr.
Parker told Racing TV: “I’m really glad we got there, it would have been annoying after bumping off the rail. He’s got a tendency to go off quick and, being drawn wide, had I tried to make the running, I'd have done too much too soon. I had to sit and suffer, and it’s paid off lovely.
“I absolutely adore him. I’m so grateful to Ruth, she puts him in these races for me to ride.”
Carr followed up with Betweenthesticks, who struck in the 5f handicap at 33-1. The five-year-old raced wide of the field, before cutting back in and holding on by a short head from Another Baar.
Carr had a career-high 52 winners last season and is already on 43 this term. She said: “I don't think we've had this many winners at this point of the season, but I try not to look at it. It’s going really well and long may it continue.”
Gold star
Gold Queen Kindly won on his debut for Karl Burke in the 6f maiden, beating Sanaam by half a length to justify odds of 1-2.
The victory sets the two-year-old up nicely for his Group 2 entry next month in the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury, where he could take on the likes of Gstaad and Zavateri.
