Lingfield: Unforgotten 14-1 for the Lincoln after successful return from injury
Unforgotten was cut to 14-1 (from 20-1) by Paddy Power for the SBK Lincoln at Doncaster on April 1 after making a remarkable winning return from a near two-year absence in the feature mile handicap under Robert Havlin.
Despite being out for 659 days, the John and Thady Gosden-trained grey was certainly not forgotten in the market, being backed into 5-4 favourite from 9-4 in the morning.
Sporting the all-blue of Godolphin, who also enjoyed a productive afternoon in Bahrain and Dubai, Havlin stayed wide from his stall-ten draw to slot in second turning down the side of the track and kicked off the bend to hold the late surge of Tropez Power.
Havlin said: "Obviously it was great to get Unforgotten back on track after nearly two years out and he did that well coming here on the back of four pieces of work. He's at the right end of the handicap and hopefully can start making up for lost time."
Easing the pain
Kevin Philippart de Foy had something to ease the pain of a recent skiing accident when his newcomer Ermesinde sprang a 14-1 surprise in the 1m2f maiden.
The Newmarket-based Belgian injured ligaments around his ankle when taking a tumble on the slopes last month, but he was able to limp into the winner's enclosure to welcome back his sixth success of 2023 and the third in a row.
Almost as prolific is winning jockey Daniel Muscutt, who went on to 46 winners for the all-weather season when Inaam landed the 6f classified stakes for John Butler.
