Lee on song as Melody calls the tune in sprint final
Despite spending five weeks on the sidelines over the summer, Graham Lee has quickly re-established himself in the ranks and made his first visit to the Lansdown Hill venue this term pay off with victories in the two feature races on Storm Melody and Here Comes When.
Lee had partnered the Jonjo O’Neill-trained Storm Melody last season and was certain the cut in the ground would suit the three-year-old, and he was proved right as the pair asserted a furlong out in the final of the Summer Sprint Series and took the spoils at the chief expense of Showmethewaytoavrilo.
The jockey said: “I had five weeks off with a viral problem but all that's in the past now and not really worth talking about. It’s good to come back here for the first time this season and ride a double, including the winner of a £20,000 race for Jonjo, who has been a big supporter of mine over the years. It’s happy days.”
