L'Ami Serge gives Jacob a well-timed boost

Daryl Jacob did not have long to wait for compensation after being denied a bet365 Gold Cup he was sure he had won and, even though the Select Hurdle was somewhat less valuable, there was still the satisfaction of winning a prestigious prize on one of his more frustrating rides.

L'Ami Serge had gathered an awful lot of 2s and 3s by his name since his Grade 1 win in the 2015 Tolworth Hurdle and two novice wins over fences the following season, and one might have feared the worst when he pulled his way to the front down the far side.

However, L'Ami Serge travelled much the best all the way up the straight and was always holding last year's winner Ptit Zig once sent to the front.
