Kon Tiki emulates Mill Stream to set up more Group 1 dreams for Jane Chapple-Hyam and Peter Harris

A year after unleashing a future Group 1 winner at what she calls one of her "lucky tracks," Jane Chapple-Hyam struck with another who could have just as bright a future.
Twelve months ago Mill Stream carried Peter Harris's colours to victory in the Duke of York Stakes, a prelude to success in the July Cup at Newmarket in the summer.
Now the July meeting is the long-term target for Harris's one-time 1,000 Guineas hope Kon Tiki, a dual all-weather winner who kept her unbeaten record as she made a successful turf debut in the Listed Sky Bet Fillies' Stakes.
"I'm thrilled," the trainer said after the 11-2 shot had won by half a length under David Egan. "She trained well all winter and I had her in the Guineas, but we decided to come here because it was first time on turf coming off the all-weather. I thought this was a nice start for her and allowed her to come in her coat.

"Mr Harris likes them to go gradually up the staircase, there's no rush. So we'll head for the [Prix de] Sandringham, a Group 2 at Chantilly in June. Then, for me, it would be the Falmouth Stakes."
Harris, who is a former trainer, is as enthusiastic as ever about racing at the age of 91 and has 29 horses with Chapple-Hyam.
He was at York, as he had been last year at this meeting, and said: "I had my first horse in 1971 and I still enjoy it. I don't bet, so that worry goes away."
It's no Secret - back the Keatley longshots
Never be put off if an Adrian Keatley two-year-old starts at long odds at York. He had the third in the Gimcrack Stakes at 80-1 last summer and sprang a 33-1 surprise in the Clipper EBF Marygate Stakes nine months later.
Secret Hideaway had finished only second in a Class 4 novice on her debut at Ripon last month but took the step up to Listed company in her stride and scored by half a length under PJ McDonald.
"I thought she had a chance," her trainer said. "Last year I told everyone Symbol Of Strength had a big each-way chance in the Gimcrack. He was third, Shadow Of Light just beat him in a photo for second. They might listen some day!"
Asked whether he had backed the filly himself, Keatley laughed and said: "I couldn't be telling you that!"

The trainer added: "She's a decent filly. I've always thought plenty of her. Her heart is the biggest part of her, you saw that there.
"I ran her at Ripon to educate her on the undulations over a sharp five furlongs. Today there was a quick pace and she'll have no bother staying six furlongs, maybe even seven in time.
"I'll speak to the owners and Royal Ascot is the obvious place to go, either the Queen Mary or the Albany. She has a brilliant temperament, she's very laid-back and easy to do anything with, she's a pleasure to have."
Secret Hideaway is quoted at 14-1 for the Queen Mary by Paddy Power and 20-1 for the Albany.
Thunder sets up royal run
Thunder Run saves his best for the big days at York and did so again when getting up in the 1m2½f handicap in the nick of time.
The Karl Burke-trained four-year-old won a big handicap over a mile at last year's Ebor meeting and maintained his perfect Knavesmire record when catching Tony Montana on the line to win by a head.
Burke said: "He loves the track, but the step up in trip was the key. Once he got a bit of cover he got in a lovely rhythm. I didn't want him to hit the front too soon, but didn't think it'd be that late. It nearly gave me a heart attack.
"When he learns to race a bit more economically he's definitely a Listed or Group 3 horse. The Wolferton at Royal Ascot will be the plan."
