Southern raider Stellar Notion gatecrashed the party for Scottish Borders racegoers with an impressive display in the £20,000 feature.

On a gloriously sunny day, more than 5,000 crowded into the track for the popular ladies’ day fixture. But they were unable to cheer a big home win as Stellar Notion, trained 314 miles away in Gloucestershire by Tom George, came home six lengths clear of the local hope Blue Kascade in the 2m7½f handicap chase.

The ten-year-old, once a very useful chaser with Irish trainer Henry de Bromhead, made all the running and stretched clear in fine style from the final fence.
