Joy for Duffield as Canford's gives her first juvenile winner this year
It has been a nightmare year for trainer Ann Duffield, but her fortunes look on the ascendancy after 16-1 shot Canford's Joy, who was ridden by Jimmy Sullivan, provided her with her first two-year-old winner of the season.
She said: "The horses have been ill – they have had a virus. Hopefully they're getting over it now as we had a couple of winners earlier this month.
"We've always liked this horse and, though he was a bit green, he showed a bit first time at Beverley. George (husband) was getting a bit disconsolate that we hadn't had a two-year-old winner but I told him last week that this horse would win."
