Johnson maintains relentless form with double for Elliott

In the blink of an eye reigning champion Richard Johnson has seized control of the Stobart-backed jump jockeys' championship.

Following a treble at Warwick on Thursday, Johnson headed north and scored on both his rides, linking up again with trusted ally Gordon Elliott – for whom he rode a five-timer at Perth last week – on Isle Of Destiny and Jaunty Thor.

He now leads Harry Skelton, who was 19 winners clear in the title race in June, by seven (92-85) after taking his haul for this month to eight winners.
