Jim Bolger may well be the oldest trainer to win the 2,000 Guineas but the 79-year-old is not quite the oldest to win any British Classic.

Dates of birth for trainers and jockeys in the early Classic era were often unrecorded, but in modern times Harry Wragg was 79 days 323 days old when landing his last Classic victory with On The House in the 1,000 Guineas in 1982, and was therefore 196 days older than Bolger when Poetic Flare won on Saturday.

If Irish Classics are included, Paddy Mullins and Kevin Prendergast were even older than Wragg at the time of their last victories at that level.
